Coldrasp spawn location and taming tips in WoW Forever

Coldrasp spawns in the Whispering Forest, the new corner of Tirisfal Glades, just east and south of the fairy ring near the rocks. Testers put him at 19.7, 65.6, and one saw him appear at 19.5, 65.4. He is a level 12 rare elite wolf, and you can tame him at 10.

He is the most camped rare in the beta so far, and for good reason. He wears the spectral blue wolf skin from vanilla, the one nobody could tame back then, and he comes with two things most wolves do not.

Where does Coldrasp spawn?

Stand near the mushroom ring in the Whispering Forest. He has at least two spawn points close to it, and he seems to patrol between them, so you may see him running rather than standing still. Testers found him by the rocks to the southeast, up near the cliffs, and once running through the middle toward the nook.

He probably does not spawn in the nook itself. That corner counts as Silverpine Forest, not Tirisfal.

What level is Coldrasp, and can you tame him at 10?

He is level 12, and yes. Testers report that Forever lets hunters tame beasts up to two levels above them, and several have tamed him at 10. He stays 12 after the tame, so for a couple of levels your pet is ahead of you.

He is elite, but testers report he did not hit a level 10 character very hard.

What does Coldrasp come with?

The attack speed passive is the real prize. A normal wolf swings at 2.0. Furious Howl is the wolf family ability, so any wolf can learn it, but Coldrasp arrives with it already trained. See the wolf family page for how Furious Howl scales.

How long is the Coldrasp respawn?

Hours. One tester waited 2.5 hours before giving up, and another thinks he comes back somewhere between 4 and 9 hours on a single layer. Several testers waited 5 or 6 hours and saw nothing.

Layering makes it worse. The game moves you between copies of the zone, sometimes in the middle of a fight, and every move resets the count. One tester saw him spawn right at a server reset, which is worth knowing if you can be online for one.

Tips for camping Coldrasp

• Use a /target Coldrasp macro and press it every so often. It picks him out from the other wolves.
• You do not need to clear the wolves around the ring. One tester camped the ring for about 5 hours with the macro and got him.
• Bring something else to do. Quests nearby, a profession, anything. This is a long wait.
• If someone else is camping, check which layer you are on before you settle in.

If you would rather not wait, the tame finder lists every wolf by swing speed. Several common wolves swing at 1.5 or faster.
