Zephras Isle has 16 tameable beasts in the Forever database, and every one of them is new to Forever. Six are bears, two are rares (Mystmane and Fernfeather), and the rest are raptors, owls, tallstriders, a crab and a cat. The foxes live here too.
You get your pet at 10, the same as Classic. Most of the island's beasts are lower than that, so you can tame almost anything here the moment you can tame at all.
Which pets are on Zephras Isle?
Coordinates are rounded from the spawn points in the Forever database. Where a beast covers a big area, you get the range.
| Beast | Family | Level | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scrawny Ursera | Bear | 3-4 | Around 39, 27 |
| Ursera Scavenger | Bear | 4 | Around 37, 26 |
| Urs'anah | Bear | 5 | 35.5, 25.7 |
| Prideclaw | Cat | 5-6 | All over, 35 to 56 x, 35 to 71 y |
| Galestrider | Tallstrider | 5-6 | All over, 36 to 53 x, 35 to 68 y |
| Highlands Ursera | Bear | 7-8 | 43 to 59 x, 35 to 72 y |
| Windsong Crawler | Crab | 8-9 | 43 to 69 x, 45 to 79 y |
| Shriekling Fledgling | Raptor | 8-9 | Around 51, 66 |
| Ornery Galestrider | Tallstrider | 8-9 | 45 to 65 x, 62 to 86 y |
| Vulgara the Insatiable | Elite, coded as a wolf | 8 | 42.6, 52.2 |
| Shriekling Matriarch | Raptor | 9 | 52.4, 66 |
| Shadowgale Ursera | Bear | 10-11 | 52 to 63 x, 30 to 45 y |
| Shadowgale Shrieker | Bird of prey | 10 | 57.5, 39.5 |
| Shadowgale Shriekling | Bird of prey | 10-11 | 54 to 64 x, 35 to 45 y |
| Fernfeather | Tallstrider, rare | 10 | Around 52, 82 |
| Mystmane | Bear, rare | 13 | Around 60, 34 |
The names trip people up. The Shriekling Fledgling and Shriekling Matriarch are raptors. The Shadowgale Shriekling is a bird of prey.
To compare these with beasts in other zones, filter the tame finder by family, zone, level or attack speed.
Which ursera should you tame?
All six bears are in the bear family: Tenacity,
Swipe, and a diet that takes every food in the game. What separates them is level, look and swing speed.
Urs'anah, The Den Mother, comes with Slower Attack II, a 20% attack speed penalty. Take her for the look only. Mystmane swings at 1.6 with Increased Attackspeed 2 (+25%), going by tester reports, so he is the fast one. Nobody has reported a swing speed for the other four yet.
If you only want the look, check the display IDs first. In the Forever database Mystmane shares a display ID with the level 3 Scrawny Ursera, and the Ursera Scavenger shares one with the Shadowgale Ursera. A shared display ID normally means the same model and skin, so a common bear may give you the rare's look without the camp. You give up Mystmane's attack speed if you go that way.
How do you get Mystmane?
He wanders Shadowgale Forest around the giant fallen tree, near 60, 34. Wowhead commenters say his spawn point is shared with another rare, Den'dralass, and with the Shadowgale Ursera at 60.0, 33.5. Another says both rares can spawn anywhere a Shadowgale Ursera does, which is why hunters clear the ursera there while they wait.
The respawn reports do not agree. One commenter says exactly 3 hours from the moment the last one dies. Another saw him tamed at 23:20 and back at 01:06 on a quiet server. Plan on somewhere between one and three hours.
He is level 13. Testers say you can tame two levels up, so an 11 should manage it, but that rule has not held for every beast. See the taming rules in the guide.
One warning. Several hunters report that Mystmane arrives with
Savage Rend in the spellbook and loses it on relog. A Wowhead commenter says it still happens after the latest update. Treat Savage Rend as a bonus you probably will not keep.
What about the birds and raptors?
The two Shadowgale birds of prey sit in the same forest as Mystmane. They learn
Mine!, the bird of prey disarm, and eat meat only.
The raptors are further south, around 52, 66. Raptors get Savage Rend as their family ability, a bleed with a 1 minute cooldown, plus
Bite and
Claw.
Galestriders and Fernfeather
Galestriders cover the middle of the island and the Ornery Galestriders the south. Both are tallstriders, so they learn
Dust Cloud, an armor debuff that helps your shots too. Bring cheese, fungus or fruit, because they eat nothing else.
Fernfeather is the rare one, a level 10 tallstrider in the far south around 52, 82. In the database it shares a display ID with the Ornery Galestrider, so check the model before you spend an evening camping.
The cat and the crab
Prideclaw is the island's only cat, level 5 to 6 and everywhere in the middle. Cats bring
Prowl and the highest damage.
The Windsong Crawler is a level 8 to 9 crab. Crabs got a family ability in Forever for the first time:
Pinch, which slows the target by 50%.
Where are the foxes?
Foxes are on Zephras Isle too, but most of them are not in the database roster yet. Slydris, the gold vuldren, is a rare with no confirmed spawn timer. Vulgara the Insatiable is tameable but coded as a wolf, which is why she sits in the wolf family above. Both are on the rares page, and the fox guide covers Trickster's Dance and the open bugs.
