Ghost wolf pet in WoW Forever, and every other ghost tame

The ghost wolf you can tame in WoW Forever is Coldrasp, a level 12 rare in the Whispering Forest corner of Tirisfal Glades. He wears the spectral blue wolf skin, and Petopia Forever lists that skin as tameable. The Ghost Saber in Darkshore is the only other pet that stays see-through after you tame it.

A lot of searches for "ghost wolf" end up on the Ghostpaw wolves in Ashenvale. Those are ordinary grey wolves with a ghostly name. Here is what each ghost pet looks like, where to find it, and which names are a false lead.

Where is the ghost wolf pet in WoW Forever?

Coldrasp spawns east and south of the fairy ring in the Whispering Forest, near the rocks. Testers have him at 19.7, 65.6 and saw him spawn at 19.5, 65.4. He seems to patrol between at least two spawn points.

Testers report taming him at 10, since Forever lets you tame up to two levels above you. He stays 12. The catch is the respawn. Reports run from 2.5 hours to 9 hours on one layer, and some people waited longer and saw nothing.

The Coldrasp spawn guide covers the camp in detail, with a target macro and layer tips. His pet page has the map.

Are the Ghostpaw wolves ghosts?

No. Ghostpaw Runner, Ghostpaw Howler and Ghostpaw Alpha all wear a plain grey wolf skin. Only the name is spooky.

They are still worth knowing, though:

• Ghostpaw Runner, level 19 to 20 in Ashenvale, knows Bite 3 when tamed and swings at 2.0.
• Ghostpaw Howler, level 23 to 24 in Ashenvale, swings at 2.0.
• Ghostpaw Alpha, level 27 to 28 in Ashenvale, knows Bite 4 and Furious Howl 2 and swings at 1.3.

That last one is faster than Coldrasp. If you want a quick wolf and do not care about the glow, the Alpha is a much shorter trip than a nine hour camp.

How do you tame the Ghost Saber?

The Ghost Saber is a level 19 to 20 cat in the Ruins of Mathystra in northern Darkshore. It does not wander in on its own. You walk the ruins and click the small cat figurines on the ground until one of them summons a saber. Its spawn points sit roughly between 57 and 61 across and 15 and 25 down.

It knows Claw 3 when tamed and swings at 2.0. The look is the ghostly spotted white cat, and it stays transparent after you tame it. Petopia Forever lists that skin as tameable, and the Ghost Saber is the only creature that wears it.

Classic players reported that a freshly tamed Ghost Saber can die a few minutes after the tame and work normally once you revive it. Nobody has confirmed that in Forever yet. See the Ghost Saber page for the full spawn map.

Is Ghostfang a ghost cat?

Ghostfang is new in Forever, but he is icy blue, not transparent. Think frost, not spirit. He is a level 10 rare cat in Dun Morogh, on the hill before the tunnel to the Wetlands, behind the bigger trees. Testers have seen him around 74, 64, 80, 46, 79, 43 and 82, 55.

He comes with no abilities, and you can tame him at 10. The respawn is about 30 minutes, which makes him the easiest of the new rare looks. His pet page has every pin.

Are there any other ghost pets coming?

One maybe. Ghostmaw is a level 42 elite crocolisk in the Forever database. Wowhead commenters say it patrols the river north and west of Rog'Mar, the Horde outpost in the Riverglades. The name suggests a ghost crocolisk, but nobody has confirmed the look or whether it can be tamed. We will add it to the rares page once someone does.

Which ghost pet should you go for?

If you want the real spectral wolf, it is Coldrasp, and you should bring a book. For a see-through cat, go to Darkshore and plan on clicking a lot of figurines. Ghostfang is the pick if you want a rare look without the long wait. And if a fast wolf with a ghostly name is enough, Ghostpaw Alpha swings at 1.3 and needs no camp at all.

Every other look in the game is on the looks page, and the tame finder sorts every wolf by swing speed.
